A testament to both locality and tradition, Athinoelia is considered one of the oldest Greek varieties, one that is unique to Laconia. “Athino-elia” is the olive of Athena, the powerful goddess that, according to myth, competed with God Poseidon over the patronage of Athens, only to defeat him by gifting the city with an olive tree. Athinoelia is pure and fresh. Around early harvest, the young olives are handpicked and immediately taken to the master-miller to be cold-pressed within hours, securing their feisty temperament that gives the golden green oil depth and a low acidic character.
